Business Contract Hire (BCH) is a vehicle lease agreement, usually of two to four years, suitable for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies who don’t want to own the vehicle. It is a popular option with VAT registered companies as they can claim back 50% of the VAT on vehicle payments (100% for vans) and 100% of the VAT on maintenance costs.
Personal contract hire (PCH, also known as Personal Leasing) is a vehicle rental agreement. It is a solution for private individuals and is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to purchasing brand new vehicles among car users. You pay to ‘rent’ the vehicle throughout the duration of your contract, and then return the vehicle at the end of the agreement, leaving the finance company to worry about depreciation values and disposal of the car.
